About the Turkey Trot

This is a benefit run put on by a pair of local car dealerships, with every dollar from entry fees going to a local cause. The atmosphere skews festive in the old-fashioned sense: face painting, music, costume contests, and fire pits are part of the morning alongside the running. Dogs are welcome.

Bib pickup runs the evening before at the Honda dealership. The start area has the feel of a community gathering rather than a race staging area, which makes sense given that the event is as much a fundraiser as it is a run.

Common Questions About the Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 37:05, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:05, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Turkey Trot a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 227 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Turkey Trot?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:33 while the median finisher took 37:05. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
