About the Turkey Trot for Education

This Thanksgiving morning race in Pilesgrove benefits a local school foundation. Both distance options share the same course, and the organizers have hidden baked potatoes along the way as a scavenger hunt, with prizes for runners who find one. Age group awards and costume prizes round out the competition side of things.

Packet pickup runs the evening before the race at Farmers and Bankers Brewing in Woodstown, the same spot that hosts the post-race party. A drink is included with registration, and the awards ceremony there adds extra prizes for categories like best costume and farthest traveled.

Common Questions About the Turkey Trot for Education

Will I finish last at the Turkey Trot for Education?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 27:45, and the last recorded finisher came in around 49:58, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Turkey Trot for Education a good first 5K?

It is a small race (171 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Turkey Trot for Education?

The 5K winner ran 15:31 while the median finisher took 27:45. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
