About the Turkey Trot and Fun Run
This is a school district fundraiser that happens to be a road race. Elementary school parent groups from across the district organized it, and the money goes back to the schools. The main distance has a shorter option so younger kids can join in. Local food trucks are set up at the finish, and the school mascots race each other before it is all over.
The mascot race is a real thing, not a decorative detail. It draws a crowd on its own, and the food trucks mean there is reason to stick around after you finish.
