About the WRC 16th Annual Turkey Trot 5K
The course winds through a residential neighborhood west of the parish that serves as race headquarters. No timing equipment is on the course, so runners move at their own pace without a clock in sight. A short dash for younger kids runs just before the main event, with a costumed turkey and a mascot cow on hand to cheer them on. Costume prizes are handed out near the start.
Packet pickup happens at the Chick-fil-A that sponsors the race, across the two days before Thanksgiving, with drive-thru lanes for those who preregistered. On race morning, the parish auditorium opens early for same-day registration and light refreshments. A diaper donation drop-off is set up inside as well.
