About the Tulip Time Run

The course winds through downtown Holland during Tulip Time, so the streets are lined with blooming tulips as you run. It is a spring morning in a city that takes its flower festival seriously, and the scenery does most of the talking. Several distance options mean the field draws a wide range of paces, and a kids' dash keeps the youngest runners in the mix.

The race starts at Kollen Park, which gives you a clear landmark to aim for when you arrive. Packet pickup and parking details are worth checking closer to race day, but the park itself is easy to find near the water on the edge of downtown.

Common Questions About the Tulip Time Run

Will I finish last at the Tulip Time Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:19, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:29:51, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Tulip Time Run a good first 5K?

With 2,378 finishers there are runners at every pace, so you are never out on your own. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Tulip Time Run?

The 5K winner ran 16:28 while the median finisher took 36:19. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
