About the Trot The Track 5K
The course runs around a horse racing track and the casino grounds that surround it, which gives the route a character you do not get at most road races. The surface is paved and the layout follows the oval of the old track before looping through the adjacent property.
The race is put on entirely by volunteers from the local Rotary Club, so the feel of the morning reflects that. It is a newer event, and the energy at the start tends to come from people who turned out to support something their neighbors built from scratch.
