About the Trailblazer 5K

The course runs out and back along the Firefly Trail, starting and finishing inside Dudley Park. It is a certified course and qualifies for the Peachtree Road Race, so it draws people who are running with a purpose. The trail itself is the main character here, a proper path rather than a road race routed through parking lots.

Race-morning registration and packet pickup run before the start, so you can arrive, get your bib, and line up without a prior-day trip. Parking is split between a main lot on East Broad Street and a smaller overflow option nearby, both within reach of the park.

Common Questions About the Trailblazer 5K

Will I finish last at the Trailblazer 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 30:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:11, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Trailblazer 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (108 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Trailblazer 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:48 while the median finisher took 30:04. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
