About the Trach Families presents Breath of Life 5K

This race benefits a Chattanooga-based support group for families raising children with tracheostomies. The organization connects those families through hospital visits, education, and advocacy, and entry fees go directly to that work. The course is a standard road distance, and there is also a shorter fun run aimed at kids and families who want to participate without racing.

The morning has a parade for trach families between the main race and the fun run, which gives the event a distinctly different shape from a typical road race. A kids zone with face painting, sensory games, and inflatables runs alongside the event for children who come to cheer or play rather than race.

Common Questions About the Trach Families presents Breath of Life 5K

Will I finish last at the Trach Families presents Breath of Life 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 41:20, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Trach Families presents Breath of Life 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (63 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Trach Families presents Breath of Life 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 23:26 while the median finisher took 41:20. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
