About the Tortoise Trot 5K and Trail Run
Both distance options start and finish at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center. The shorter route follows the Moenkopi loop, mixing paved road and trail, with canyon views opening up in most directions as you go. The longer option pushes out onto rugged desert trails and sections of the scenic drive, with the canyon's rock faces visible for most of the run. Neither race is timed.
Packet pickup is the evening before at an REI location in Boca Park, and the organizers genuinely recommend it over race-morning pickup. A free shuttle runs on race day, and pickup is also available at that shuttle location if you miss the evening before.
