About the Tidewater Striders 2027 Distance Series #1

This race is part of a multi-event series put on by the Tidewater Striders, with this first installment running along the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake. The trail is scenic and flat, following the historic canal through wooded surroundings. Runners can choose from several distance options depending on which series challenge they have signed up for.

Packet pickup is the evening before the race at a local running store, with race-morning pickup also available for a window before the start. The series challenges span multiple events, so this race is the opening leg for those chasing a longer cumulative goal across all three.

Common Questions About the Tidewater Striders 2027 Distance Series #1

Will I finish last at the Tidewater Striders 2027 Distance Series #1?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 1:00:37, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:03:43, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Tidewater Striders 2027 Distance Series #1 a good first 10K?

It is a small race (91 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Tidewater Striders 2027 Distance Series #1?

The 10K winner ran 38:44 while the median finisher took 1:00:37. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
