About the Thummer's Memorial Day 5K
The course runs a couple of laps through the LA County Fair grounds before the fair opens for the day, so the paths are quiet and the midway is empty. It is a flat, paved loop through a setting most runners only ever see packed with crowds, which gives the morning an unusual feel.
The race opens with a memorial for fallen service members before the starting gun. After the run, the fairgrounds open up to participants, and the spectator area has music, food, and drinks during the race itself.
