About the Triple C at Woolly Hollow

The Triple C at Woolly Hollow is a memorial trail race held inside Woolly Hollow State Park, honoring a man who loved the place and the people in it. The courses mix pavement, dirt access roads, and singletrack through the woods, passing a waterfall and looping around the lake. The longest option follows a mountain bike trail and finishes in a gravel parking lot at the top of a climb.

Aid stations are out on the trail, so you are not running unsupported. The park operates as leave no trace, and the race asks runners to carry out their own trash, with bags available at each station. Proceeds from the race go to a church mission in the Philippines where the runner being honored leaves behind family.

Common Questions About the The Triple C at Woolly Hollow

Will I finish last at the Triple C at Woolly Hollow?

Almost certainly not. Half the 4 Miles field finished slower than 44:47, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:15:51, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Triple C at Woolly Hollow a good first 4 Miles?

It is a small race (23 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 4 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Triple C at Woolly Hollow?

The 4 Miles winner ran 36:20 while the median finisher took 44:47. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
