About the Spring Rising

The course follows the Cross Seminole Trail, an out-and-back on a former railroad corridor that runs past landmarks tied to Oviedo's agricultural past. The trail is paved and mostly flat, with open surroundings that make early morning starts feel spacious. The race benefits school gardens, and runners are asked to bring a food donation on race day for local pantries.

Packet pickup runs the two evenings before the race at a spot on Central Avenue, with race-morning pickup available at the start. The post-race area features a garden and plant expo where local farms, nurseries, and gardening clubs set up with free advice, cuttings, and seeds. Cash prizes go to the top finishers, with age group awards as well.

Common Questions About the The Spring Rising

Will I finish last at the Spring Rising?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 35:51, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:21:30, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Spring Rising a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 253 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Spring Rising?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:30 while the median finisher took 35:51. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
