About the Second Annual Silver Heist Walk/Run 5K & Little Bandits Bolt

The race opens with a conch shell horn, a nod to an early settler who used one to signal evening prayers across town. The course runs through Orwell, a village with a deep Revolutionary War history, and the theme ties directly to an actual silver robbery that happened here in the nineteenth century. The children's dash takes place on the soccer field at the local school.

The Orwell Historical Museum is worth a stop after the race. It holds a piece of the Great Bridge that once crossed Lake Champlain connecting two forts, and the race itself is organized partly in support of both the museum and the school's booster club.
