About the Runner Stumbles

The course runs through forested land at a resort outside Cle Elum, mixing paved pathways with single-track trail. The shorter distance stays on one loop; the longer one adds a second pass around a pair of lakes before rejoining the shared finish stretch. Volunteers are stationed along the route to keep you pointed the right direction.

The post-race gathering happens right at Nelson Farm, where the awards ceremony follows close on the heels of the last finishers. Kids races run alongside the main event, so the start area tends to have a range of ages milling around before the gun.

Finish-Time Stats

Common Questions About the The Runner Stumbles

Will I finish last at the Runner Stumbles?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 36:03, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:24:23, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Runner Stumbles a good first 5K?

A field of 200 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Runner Stumbles?

The 5K winner ran 17:46 while the median finisher took 36:03. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
