About the Rough Rider Memorial 5K
The course winds through a city recreation park, staying mostly on park paths with very little elevation change. A rucking category runs alongside the standard race, with weight requirements based on body weight, so you will see some runners carrying loaded packs. The race honors soldiers from a local unit killed in action, and that context gives the morning a noticeably somber, purposeful feel.
Packet pickup happens on-site the morning of the race, so there is no need to make a separate trip the day before. Parking is in the park itself, next to the ball fields and close to the start and finish.
