The race starts and finishes at a fitness center in Vestavia Hills, and the crowd leans heavily toward holiday spirit, with costumes encouraged. Strollers are welcome on the course, and the routes for both distances go off at the same time, so everyone heads out together. It has the feel of a neighborhood gathering more than a serious race morning.

Packet pickup runs the morning before at the same fitness center, Pure Fitness, through midday. On race day, parking is in the bowling alley lot adjacent to the building. There is coffee at the finish from a local roaster, and restrooms are on site.
