About the ODO Gobbler Run & Ruck

The course runs through farmland on the outskirts of South Glastonbury, keeping to trails the whole way. You start and finish at Hops on the Hill Brewery, so the post-race scene has a natural anchor. Participants can run or ruck, choosing between a shorter or longer distance, and there is a kids run as well.

The finish line party is the main draw after you cross: chili in meat and veggie versions, s'mores, and a pour from the brewery. Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store in Glastonbury. Ruckers are encouraged to carry canned goods or peanut butter to donate to a veterans food pantry at the finish.

Common Questions About the The ODO Gobbler Run & Ruck

Will I finish last at the ODO Gobbler Run & Ruck?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 41:39, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:32:59, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the ODO Gobbler Run & Ruck a good first 5K?

A field of 332 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the ODO Gobbler Run & Ruck?

The 5K winner ran 21:25 while the median finisher took 41:39. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
