About the Main Street Monster Mile

The course runs straight down Main Street, flat and point-to-point, with waves organized by age group so you are running against peers your own age rather than the whole field at once. There is also an untimed family wave where strollers and costumes are welcome, which gives the morning a Halloween-event feel without it being purely a kids' race.

The finish line area has awards for age group and overall winners, plus family activities afterward. The race is put on by the city alongside the Boys and Girls Clubs of Inland Valley, so the post-race gathering has a neighborhood-event character to it.

Common Questions About the The Main Street Monster Mile

Will I finish last at the Main Street Monster Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 9:43, and the last recorded finisher came in around 49:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Main Street Monster Mile a good first 1 Miles?

It is a small race (61 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Main Street Monster Mile?

The 1 Miles winner ran 2:04 while the median finisher took 9:43. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
