About the Kilbourne Community 5k and Fun Run

The course runs through the Worthington Hills Elementary School area, which gives it a neighborhood feel. This is a school-spirit race at its core, organized by the cross country athletes and their boosters, so the energy on course comes from the team itself. There is a short kids run alongside the main distance, so the morning draws a wide mix of ages from the surrounding area.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at Fleet Feet in Lewis Center, with race-morning pickup available at the school. The start and finish are at Worthington Hills Elementary, which means parking and the post-race scene are centered around a familiar community campus.

Common Questions About the The Kilbourne Community 5k and Fun Run

Will I finish last at the Kilbourne Community 5k and Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 29:48, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Kilbourne Community 5k and Fun Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (148 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Kilbourne Community 5k and Fun Run?

The 5K winner ran 16:18 while the median finisher took 29:48. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
