About the Karen P Nakon Turkey Dash
The Turkey Dash runs on Thanksgiving morning, starting and finishing at Avon High School. The course is a standard road distance, and the field draws a wide range of paces. The race benefits families in Northern Ohio affected by a breast cancer diagnosis, which gives the morning a purpose beyond the finish line. The crowd tends to be multigenerational.
Packet pickup is available the evening before at the high school's auxiliary gym, with another window on race morning before the start. After finishing, there is pumpkin pie, fruit, coffee, and hot chocolate on hand. Age group awards go several divisions deep, including a bracket for young children and one for runners well into their eighties.
