About the Howler
The Howler runs through Ozark Mountains terrain, which means roots, rocks, and elevation changes rather than anything predictable underfoot. The surroundings are deep backcountry, and the course leans into that: rugged, wooded, with views that open up when the ridge does. This is not a road race on a trail; it moves like the landscape wants it to.
After the race, there are burgers from an on-site grill and coffee drinks and smoothies from a cafe at the venue. Showers are available on site, which matters more than it sounds after a morning in those hills.
