About the Haunted Forest Marathon
The course runs almost entirely on the Towpath Trail, a hard-packed crushed limestone and blacktop path that keeps things smooth underfoot. You start in downtown Canal Fulton, move onto the trail after the first stretch of road, then turn back and finish at St Helena Heritage Park. The terrain is essentially flat the whole way, which makes this a realistic option if you are chasing a fast time.
The finish area is at St Helena Heritage Park, and awards go out on a rolling basis as runners come in rather than in a single ceremony at the end. There is also a pumpkin-smashing activity at the finish for anyone who runs a personal best on the course.
