The course starts at a launch field where hot air balloons lift off at dawn, then heads toward a community college campus, loops around, and returns to the fairgrounds to finish. The balloons are the backdrop for the whole thing, so even if weather keeps them grounded, the route still passes the launch area where the crews and envelopes are set up.
