About the George Washington Bridge Challenge
The course runs across the George Washington Bridge, which is closed to traffic for the event. You start near the Fort Lee side at a Port Authority facility, cross the bridge on foot, and finish down at a riverside picnic area. The views out over the water are the whole point, and the descent to the finish is a noticeable change in elevation from the bridge deck.
Parking is in a garage on Main Street, right behind the start, but spaces go fast and the organizers push carpooling hard. Shuttles run between the start and finish in both directions, which matters since the course is point-to-point. There is a bag check and a short opening program before the first wave goes out.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
