About the FTC Mary Andrews Marathon: 13.1 & 26.2

The course runs on the paved Gainesville-Hawthorne State Trail, an out-and-back that loops several times through a corridor of trees on both sides. The canopy keeps things shaded and sheltered from wind, and the surface is flat the whole way. It is a Boston Qualifier, and the course design means spectators can watch runners pass the same spot repeatedly.

Packet pickup is race morning only, at the trailhead start. Do not park at the trailhead itself; parking is at the nearby middle and high school, a short walk away. Street parking is available in marked zones only.

Common Questions About the The FTC Mary Andrews Marathon: 13.1 & 26.2

Will I finish last at the FTC Mary Andrews Marathon: 13.1 & 26.2?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:04:14, and the last recorded finisher came in around 4:09:20, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the FTC Mary Andrews Marathon: 13.1 & 26.2 a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (114 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the FTC Mary Andrews Marathon: 13.1 & 26.2?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:20:03 while the median finisher took 2:04:14. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
