About the Fast and The Furriest 5K

The course runs on paved trails through Lakeview Park, so the surface is smooth and the setting is open parkland. It is a winter race, which means the air tends to be crisp, but the pavement stays runnable. Hot chocolate at the finish fits the season.

Packet pickup happens on race morning at a covered pavilion inside the park, which keeps things simple. The race benefits a local animal shelter, and the post-race area includes snacks and music, so most people stick around for a while after finishing.

Common Questions About the The Fast and The Furriest 5K

Will I finish last at the Fast and The Furriest 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 36:49, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:03, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Fast and The Furriest 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (177 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Fast and The Furriest 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:22 while the median finisher took 36:49. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
