About the 15th Annual The Club of Staunton Turkey Trot Run/Walk
The course runs through a golf course on the edge of Staunton, with rolling hills that give it some real shape without being brutal. It is a road race on a scenic property, and the terrain keeps you honest whether you are running or walking. The race benefits a local children's advocacy center, and that context is present throughout the morning.
Pre-race festivities gather behind the main building, with music and dancing before the start. A turkey mascot leads runners to the line. Packet pickup runs the evening before at the advocacy center on Greenville Avenue, with morning pickup available at the course as well. Parking fills up, so carpooling helps. After the race, awards go to top finishers plus fun categories like Best Dressed Trotter and Cutest Canine.
