About the Blue Jay Mile
The Blue Jay Mile is a youth running event built around a single distance, with waves organized by grade level from the youngest elementary kids through middle school and into an open race for high schoolers and adults. The setup is competitive but oriented toward kids testing themselves, including a grade-level record attempt for the oldest elementary group.
Cadence Running Club hosts the event in Fort Worth, and the structure of the morning means the youngest runners go early, with the open and alumni race closing out the schedule. It reads like a school field day with actual race stakes, which is the draw for families showing up to watch.
