About the Barley Chase
The Barley Chase starts and finishes at a local brewery, winding through the streets of Newport between the start and the finish line. The course is an out-and-back style, so both distance options share the same route for part of the way, with aid at the halfway point of each. The race benefits a local nonprofit, and the whole event is tied to the brewery's anniversary celebration.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at the brewery, with a race-morning option available behind the building on Haskett Street. After the race, the party continues on-site, with post-run pints part of the festivities. All participants are subject to an ID check at that stage.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The Barley Chase has been held every year since at least 2021. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
