The course starts at a Toyota dealership and winds through Freeman Lake Park, so the surroundings shift from a parking lot to parkland within the first stretch. Dogs are welcome, and costume contests for pets and their owners happen before the starting gun, which gives the whole morning a different energy than most road races.

Packet pickup runs on the two evenings before race day, with stops at a pet supply store and then at the dealership itself. Both locations are in Elizabethtown, so there is no hunting around for an unfamiliar venue on race morning.
