About the Sylamore Trail 50K/25K Trail Race

The courses run out and back on Sylamore Trail, starting from a resort parking lot along the White River. Most of the route is singletrack, with a short stretch of pavement and two creek crossings along the way. The second crossing lands late in the longer race, when legs are already tired. Terrain is the main challenge here.

Check-in opens the evening before at Anglers White River Resort, where racers gather on the porch, with morning check-in available on race day as well. Both distances start from the resort's parking lot. The race runs regardless of weather, including whatever the creek crossings bring, so plan your footwear accordingly.

Common Questions About the Sylamore Trail 50K/25K Trail Race

Will I finish last at the Sylamore Trail 50K/25K Trail Race?

Almost certainly not. Half the 25K field finished slower than 4:14:22, and the last recorded finisher came in around 8:08:02, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Sylamore Trail 50K/25K Trail Race a good first 25K?

A field of 232 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 25K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Sylamore Trail 50K/25K Trail Race?

The 25K winner ran 2:04:50 while the median finisher took 4:14:22. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
