About the 4th Annual Swift Bear Trail Run
The course runs through Mission Canyon in the mountains outside Hays, mixing track roads and gravel with a short stretch of pavement. The terrain shifts as you climb, and the longer distances loop back through the same mountain scenery. All distances start and finish at the powwow grounds, so there is genuine cultural activity happening around race day.
Check-in is at a white canopy on the powwow grounds, and runners gather at the starting line a short while before each wave goes off. The race takes place during the Hays Powwow, so the surrounding area has more going on than a typical trail morning.
