About the Sweaty Sweater 5k Run & 3k Fun Run/Walk

The course runs through residential streets in Dwight, with police controlling traffic along the way. It is flat and fast, well-marked throughout, and there is a water stop mid-race. The shorter fun run option means people show up in all kinds of shape and speed. Wearing an ugly sweater is genuinely part of the deal, with a prize going to the worst one.

Packet pickup is race morning at the venue on Main Street, which gives you enough time before the gun. There are refreshments at the finish, and Santa and Mrs. Claus are on hand at the finish line for photos.

Common Questions About the Sweaty Sweater 5k Run & 3k Fun Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the Sweaty Sweater 5k Run & 3k Fun Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 55:15, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Sweaty Sweater 5k Run & 3k Fun Run/Walk a good first 5K?

It is a small race (52 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Sweaty Sweater 5k Run & 3k Fun Run/Walk?

The 5K winner ran 21:23 while the median finisher took 35:35. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
