About the Swamp Forest Trail Run
The course runs through Elinor Klapp-Phipps Park on a mix of single-track and multi-use trail. Terrain rolls throughout, passing a seepage basin swamp thick with ferns, ephemeral ponds, a black-water stream, Beech-Magnolia forest, and the shore of Lake Jackson. Gopher tortoise burrows dot the open fields, and deer show up regularly at the edges. The trail has real character and real roots underfoot.
Packet pickup is race morning only, in the hour or so before the start. The organizers ask that you pick up early so the race can go off on time. Several distance options are available, and runners who do not complete the middle loop within the cutoff window are pulled from the longer course and credited with the half marathon distance.
