About the SVR Winter Series

The SVR Winter Series is a multi-race series spread across the colder months, with individual events held at a variety of locations around the Winchester area, from a farm to a battlefield to a motorsports park. The venues change each time, so no two races feel quite the same. Most are a roughly standard road race distance, though one event is a timed run rather than a set course.

The series is organized entirely by club volunteers and is open to club members for full-series entry, with single-race options available as well. Earphones, pets, and strollers are not permitted, in keeping with the club's RRCA affiliation. Points accumulate across the series, with standings tracked by overall and age-group finish after each event.

Common Questions About the SVR Winter Series

Will I finish last at the SVR Winter Series?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 32:51, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:19:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the SVR Winter Series a good first 5K?

A field of 697 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the SVR Winter Series?

The 5K winner ran 18:15 while the median finisher took 32:51. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
