About the 15th Annual Surfin' Turkey 5K and Puppy Drum Fun Run
The course runs through a historic fishing village, so the surroundings feel genuinely local rather than generic. It is untimed, which shapes the whole morning: strollers are welcome, walkers line up toward the back, and the pace of the field reflects that. Proceeds go to a youth education fund that supports the island's schools.
Packet pickup is held the evening before at the Hatteras Village Civic Center, with a second window on race morning. Parking on site is limited, but street parking is available nearby. A pancake breakfast follows the race alongside the awards ceremony.
