About the Superheroes for Seniors 5K/1K Run/Walk Event

The race takes place at Lilburn City Park and benefits a nonprofit focused on supporting seniors in the area. Runners are encouraged to show up in costume, and there is a superhero costume contest on race day. The event has a Zumba warmup before the start, and another Zumba session after everyone finishes.

Packet pickup opens early on race morning at the park. The post-race scene includes the costume contest and the Zumba session, so there is reason to stick around after you cross the finish line.

Common Questions About the Superheroes for Seniors 5K/1K Run/Walk Event

Will I finish last at the Superheroes for Seniors 5K/1K Run/Walk Event?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 44:48, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:13:46, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Superheroes for Seniors 5K/1K Run/Walk Event a good first 5K?

It is a small race (80 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Superheroes for Seniors 5K/1K Run/Walk Event?

The 5K winner ran 22:09 while the median finisher took 44:48. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
