The courses run through redwood groves in Sanborn County Park, on single-track trails mixed with fire roads and a short stretch of pavement. The canopy keeps things shaded and the terrain is genuinely hilly, with the half marathon and longer distances climbing to the top of the park. Experienced trail runners will find it technical enough to be interesting, and walkers on the uphills are very much the norm here.
