About the Summer Trail Fest Ultra 50 Mile, 50K, Half Marathon, & 5 Miler

The race runs through Sleepy Hollow State Park on mostly singletrack trail, shaded and soft underfoot. The terrain stays gentle rather than rugged, though a wet day can bring mud. Longer distances run a couple of loops, so aid stations become familiar by the second time around. Post-race, there is a cookout at the finish with burgers, hot dogs, and sides.

Packet pickup is offered the evening before at the park's north pavilion near the beach area, and again on race morning. Parking is inside the state park, a short drive past the entrance, and a Recreation Passport is required to enter. Runners doing the longer distances are parked close to the loop turnaround, which doubles as a car-access spot mid-race.

Common Questions About the Summer Trail Fest Ultra 50 Mile, 50K, Half Marathon, & 5 Miler

Will I finish last at the Summer Trail Fest Ultra 50 Mile, 50K, Half Marathon, & 5 Miler?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:37:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 5:10:13, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Summer Trail Fest Ultra 50 Mile, 50K, Half Marathon, & 5 Miler a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 215 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Summer Trail Fest Ultra 50 Mile, 50K, Half Marathon, & 5 Miler?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:24:21 while the median finisher took 2:37:27. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
