About the Suicide Awareness 5K
The course loops around Skyview Lake and its surrounding park, so you are running near the water the whole way. The terrain is park-style, and the route is straightforward. A memory walk runs alongside the main race, and walkers carrying the weight of personal loss are a visible part of the morning.
The event is organized by a pair of local nonprofits focused on suicide prevention in northeast Nebraska. Along the walk portion, photos of loved ones are displayed, which gives the course a quieter, more personal atmosphere than a typical road race.
