The course runs through Sugar Loaf, an artisan hamlet, with the mountain rising around you as you go. It is hilly and genuinely scenic, the kind of terrain that asks something of your legs. The route starts and finishes at a performing arts center, so the surroundings feel a little different from a typical road race start line.
