About the Stasny Road Racing 5K Prediction Race
This is a prediction race, which means the goal is not to finish fast but to finish exactly when you said you would. You enter your estimated finishing time when you register, then run the course without any watch, phone, GPS, or headphones. The closer your actual time matches your prediction, the better you do. Top honors go to whoever is most accurate.
Timing devices of any kind are banned on the course, and that rule is enforced strictly. Scoring is done down to the whole second using chip timing, so there is no fudging at the line. If there is a tie, overall finishing position breaks it. It is a different way to think about a race, and most runners find it harder than it sounds.
