About the Star Spangled Squirt Gun Run 5k
The course follows Lake Erie and winds through historic downtown Port Clinton, so there is water in view for a good stretch of it. The route is flat throughout, and volunteers stationed along the way carry squirt guns, which on a warm summer morning is either a welcome surprise or exactly what you signed up for.
Registration opens on Adams Street near a local bank, and that is also where awards happen after the race. Refreshments are set out once you finish. The race benefits a women's club that funds college scholarships for local high school students, so the post-race gathering has a neighborhood cookout feel to it.
