The course sends you up the stadium stairs and through the seating sections at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. It is more climb than run, and you can walk, jog, or push hard depending on how you feel. The stadium setting makes it unlike most road races, and the cause behind it, building homes for severely injured veterans, is central to the whole morning.
Waves go off throughout the event, so you are not stuck in a single mass start. There is music, and the atmosphere is family-oriented in the sense that kids are genuinely part of the field, not an afterthought. A firefighter wave runs as its own separate group.
