About the St. Paddy's 5 Mile Race
The course stays inside Tighe Park, winding through open green space before crossing the Manasquan River on a wooden bridge in a quiet, wooded stretch. It is a contained, park-style run with a natural feel underfoot, and that river crossing breaks up the route nicely. The race benefits Special Olympics and Challenger Sports programs for local participants.
Beer and hot dogs are at the finish. The race is organized by the Freehold Area Running Club and supports local recreation programs for people with special needs, so there is a sense of purpose to the morning beyond the running itself.
