About the St Mark's New Years Day 5K
The course is USATF certified and runs through Long Valley itself, so you are out on actual roads rather than looping a park. The organizers describe it as challenging, which tracks for a winter road race through a town with some real terrain underfoot. Expect to work a little, especially if the weather turns.
The race goes off on New Year's Day regardless of weather, rain or snow included. Registration is also available the morning of the race before the start. Afterward, there are bagels, bananas, water, and hot chocolate inside for the awards and prize drawings, which makes the indoor finish to the morning a welcome thing on a cold holiday.

The St Mark's New Years Day 5K has been held every year since at least 2018. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Oct 18, 2026.
