This race is hosted on the grounds of an animal welfare center, and dogs are welcome to run alongside their people. The course is a short road race, and the field tends to draw as many animal lovers as dedicated runners. The shelter campus gives the morning a grounded, purposeful feel that is hard to replicate at a standard road race.
