About the 5th Annual SSGT Taylor Hoover Memorial 5K
The race is held in memory of a soldier killed in action, and that purpose shapes the whole morning. The course runs through West Memphis, starting and finishing at Worthington Park, which the city has since renamed in his honor. The surroundings are flat and open, and the route is straightforward enough that you can focus on why everyone showed up.
The park fills out well before the start, with food trucks, live music, and inflatables for younger kids making it feel more like a community gathering than a race-day staging area. Color powder gets distributed to everyone for a post-race celebration. Packet pickup runs the evening before at the same park, with race-morning pickup also available.
