About the Squatchy Surprise
The Squatchy Surprise runs through South Mountain Reservation, and the twist is built into the format: the distance or course you run is determined by a draw, so you do not know what you are signing up for until race day. That unpredictability is the point. It is a trail event, and the reservation gives it real terrain to work with.
The race benefits Bigger Than The Trail, a non-profit, so the entry goes somewhere beyond the finish line. Beyond that, the morning shapes up differently for every runner, which is probably exactly what the organizers are going for.
